While it's important for manufacturers to continuously strive for innovation, it could be said that in many industries, such as the valve industry, new designs could be “reinventing the wheel.” SSP has disproven this overdevelopment theory with the release of the FB Series—a product line that incorporates all of SSP’s notable capabilities/technologies and so much more.FBImage

While it's important for manufacturers to continuously strive for innovation, it could be said that in many industries, such as the valve industry, new designs could be “reinventing the wheel.” SSP has disproven this overdevelopment theory with the release of the FB Series—a product line that incorporates all of SSP’s notable capabilities/technologies and so much more.

The FB Series is a line of specialized ball valves that can be used in a variety of applications. These valves fulfill specific requirements for high-pressure, high temperature, and low differential pressure applications, as well as many others. Additionally, the FB Series valves can serve as a drop-in replacement for Swagelok AFS and SK series products.

“FB” refers to floating ball—a component that has become well accepted within the valve industry. With this design, upstream pressure assists the downstream seal rather than working against it.

What Makes the FB Series Better

The FB Series is unique because it can be used in a number of applications where other ball valves would fail. The unique combination of features that provide leak-tight performance at high and low pressures and temperatures.  With live-loaded PEEK seats, the FB Series combats wear and tear even at high pressures.

Some additional features of the FB series include:

• 6000 psig (413 bar) working pressure at 250°F

• High Flow - Cv up to 13.8

• Wide temperature range (-40°F to 400°F)

• Leak-Tight Envelope Seal and Shut -off

• Wide range of end connection size and type combinations, including 3 styles of tube fittings

• Low torque actuation

• Higher Cycle life and low maintenance

SSP: Industry Standard Products. Made Better.

While a ball valve is found in many standard applications, the FB Series from SSP is an upgrade due to the live loaded seats, essentially springs that help the valve seal better, and also allows us to handle higher pressures (many floating ball valves only go to 5000 psi). The downstream spring will cushion the shock of the ball against the seat, not only preventing leaks but also minimizing wear and vibration, helping to extend the valve’s life span. The result is a valve that is consistent with industry accepted design standards, made better with the addition of a few smart additions.

When to Upgrade

A faulty valve is nothing to ignore, especially under high-pressure or temperature circumstances. If you are experiencing leaks, inadequate flow, difficult actuation, or any other issues, it’s times to turn to the FB Series.
